Praise for the Folk Club
Maddie Morris sent us this after performing at the Folk Club on 16th February:
"Cambridge Folk Club is an example of what a folk club should look like, and the direction I hope the folk scene continues to go in. With a commitment both to the tradition, and to creating events that welcome everyone. Cambridge Folk Club is a warm, welcoming and safe atmosphere for artists and audiences and a true embodiment of what folk music should be. People coming together, sharing music, laughter and community through song. The team are welcoming, friendly and helpful, the sound is beautiful and the audiences are appreciative."

Friday 19th April 2024:
Showcase with John & Di Cullen; Steve Warner; The Larks
At the Golden Hind, 355 Milton Road, Cambridge CB4 1SP
8pm (Doors open 7:30pm)
Entry: £10(door), £9(advance), £8(members).
John and Di Cullen have been described as “an inspirational music partnership” performing contemporary and traditional material with harmony, humour, guitar and bowed psaltery. Having spent 35 years running pubs and restaurants, including the well-known Beacon Folk Club which was very successful in the Tunbridge area, Jo and Di now have time to return to their first love – folk music – and are quickly making a name for themselves on the folk scene. They have made 2 CDs, Moonlighting and Two for the Road, which have been very well-received by fans and critics alike and showcase their talents and performing skills as well as reflecting their experience in the folk world, varied repertoire and their taste for meaningful songs as well as some comedy pieces.

Steve Warner: Lend us a Tenor tour
Steve Warner takes to the road this spring to launch his new live EP 'frail' written, recorded and performed on the Tenor guitar. A performance full of stories, original songs and carefully chosen covers. Not to be missed!
"Steve expertly delivers emotive and elegantly crafted songs, often thought-provoking and always memorable" Hannah Elizabeth
"Steve puts audiences at ease, playing original and well-chosen covers, delivered with a fine singing voice and accompanied by a variety of guitars" Redbourn Folk Club
The Larks, Liz Miller and Chris Wilbraham, use carefully wrought harmonies, guitar and mandolin to entertain their audiences. They play festivals such as FolkEast last year and headline folk clubs locally and as far away as Islington. Influences are many ( Gillian Welch, Joni Mitchell. The Smiths, The Cure, Anais Mitchell ) and their sets may include songs from these artists as well as original songs which might speak of Mermaids, a Life Boat Disaster or Climate Change.
